Innovation, Experimentation

I listen to a lot of radio while driving. Or at home.

The other day I heard an interview

about

mexico from the inside out

enrique olvera

Enrique Olvera, chef and writer, was talking about blending and mashing tradition with innovation and experimentation. He was talking about the “dynamic of creativity” and how most innovation fails. But how he still tries. And succeeds occasionally.

In my own egocentric way I’ve found myself thinking about this. How it applies to my life, to my work. How we’re engaged in this history and tradition thick process of cultivating and harvesting food. How we’re trying to innovate in many ways, trying to make some of it work better for us today. And how we often fail. And try to fail less the next time. And succeed sometimes.
