new-to-us hive (and more!)

here’s our new hive!

fresh paint and all!

hive recently split May 2016

Yesterday we split a very healthy hive over at Terry and Polly’s Organic Valley farm. Really nice hive! We got approximately half. This calms the growing population, tempers the bees’ tendency to swarm and leave a too-crowded hive. Keeps ’em happy.
Our hive is set up off the ground on this pallet. Behind and next to the hive are some big round bales (future mulch for our garlic). These bales help block the wind.

here’s a link for their farm:

(Thursday we’ll be setting up two other hives. This is in part due to the helpful generosity of two CSA shareholders who were saddened by last years robbed hive . We’re so very fortunate to be part of a such great CSA community! A special thank you to Lisa P. and Jen P. Thank you!)

just a few reminders

We do have room remaining in our CSA. And we are looking for additional CSA members this season. We do appreciate all your help spreading the word. Thanks for passing this post on!

Word-of-mouth has always been our strongest, most reliable outreach. Your spreading the word to “your people” has gained us many new and faithful members.
